Ronald Bucinell,
associate professor of mechanical engineering, presented at a workshop on “German for Engineers” at a colloquium on International Engineering, organized by the University of Rhode Island's International Engineering Program. Wilfried Wilms, assistant professor of German, also participated in the workshop. Bucinell and Wilms and are exploring the possibilities for a closer interaction between German and engineering at Union College. Wilms presented “Air
War and Literature” at this year's convention of the Pacific Ancient &
Modern Language Association (PAMLA) in Bellingham,
WA. The paper discussed and analyzed the
psychological and political taboo and repression in postwar Germany,
England and the
U.S. concerning
the Allied bombing raids on civilians in World War II.
