Pat Allen,
director of educational studies, was one of seven speakers at a recent meeting
of the New York State Education Department's Leadership
Academy, formed by the Commissioner
of Education to educate young SED staff members about how to lead effectively.
Allen represented teacher education programs. He also was a presenter on a
panel for superintendents, administrators, and teacher leaders to present the
benefits of National Board Certification, drawing on the perspective of having
run a National Board Certification Support Group for each of the last three
years. On Nov. 18, Karen Kelley, an adjunct faculty member in Educational
Studies, and Allen are to present a workshop on research-based effective ways
to establish a mentoring program in a public school to the New York State 21st
Annual Statewide Conference on In-service Education.
