It was a coconut from an early decision candidate, postage affixed, with some writing: “I anxiously await your 12/15 decision. You can break me open and eat. I'm fresh from Florida.”
The applicant was admitted. The coconut sits, unopened, on a fireplace mantel in the Grant Hall waiting room.
