Junior captain Seana Phillips (Cape Elizabeth, ME/Cape
Elizabeth) and senior captain Aaron D'Addario
(Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) both earned
Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association “Swimmer of
the Meet” honors for their performances against
Hartwick last Saturday. It marked the second and
third time this year that a Union swimmer has been
selected. Senior co-captain Ridgley Harrison
(Hackettstown, NJ/Morristown) was voted the Upstate
Collegiate Athletic Association's “Swimmer of the
Meet” after winning all three of his freestyle
races and helping the relay teams capture a pair of
titles in the annual UCAA Championship Meet that was
held at the University of Rochester the weekend of
December 6-7). Harrison's efforts helped the
Dutchmen capture second behind Hamilton.
Phillips, who is majoring in
education with an eye toward becoming a teacher,won
the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races against Hartwick and
also helped the 200 freestyle relay team capture first
place. Phillips won the 50 free in 25.97 and the 100 free
in 58.15. She swam the anchor leg of the 200 free
relay in 26.30.
“Seana had two great in season
swims and was a key to our victory in the 200 freestyle
relay,” said second-year head coach Scott Felix.
“She was very aggressive in her races and raised the bar
for our entire team.”
D'Addairo, who has a dual major
of psychology and biology, continued his strong season
with victories in the one meter (scoring 231.20 points) and
three meter boards (252.75 points). His efforts helped the
Dutchmen improve their dual meet record to 2-1 with a 128-106
victory over the visiting Hawks. His two wins picked up 18
points for the Ductchmen.
“Aaron had one of the best dual
meet competitions in his career,” said Felix.
“He was instrumental in our team's win over a very tough
Hartwick squad.”
The teams travel to take on Ithaca this
weekend at 1 p.m. before returning home for meets against
Rensselaer on Tuesday, January 22 (at 4:00 p.m.) and Middlebury
on Saturday, January 25 at 2 p.m.
