PHIL HENRY UCAA “Guard
of the Week”


Senior guard Phil Henry (Flushing, NY/Chaminade) was
named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association's
“Guard of the Week” after helping the Dutchmen
win the 19th annual Sig Makofski/Union College
Basketball Invitational last weekend. Henry, who
named the event's Most Valuable Player, scored a
game-high 23 points as Union beat St. Joseph's of Maine,
80-62 in the championship. The Monks had gone into
the game with a 10-2 record. Besides his 23
points, Henry handed out five assists, came up with
three steals and pulled down four rebounds.



In the opener, Henry helped the
Dutchmen snap a three-game losing streak with a
game-high 19 points as Union defeated SUNY Maritime,
76-40. Henry added an assist, two
blocks, a steal and three rebounds. The tournament
championship was Union's fifth and the Dutchmen's first
since 1999.



In three games last week, the
civil engineering major averaged 23.3 points with a 60
percent field goal average.



So far this season Henry leads
the Garnet in scoring (15.4 points), steals (13) and
three-point field goals (12-of-34 for 35.3%). He
is fourth with his 13 assists and has also contributed
23 rebounds. Henry has been the Dutchmen's leading
scorer in six of their first 10 games, topping the
20-point plateau three times.
