Painter Richard Haas will give a
slide lecture on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m.
in Arts 210.
Haas's larger-than-life paintings
in trompe l'oeil style are often
found on building façades. Since 1977, he has completed more than 100 works
nationwide. Recently his commissions included the Coca-Cola headquarters in Atlanta,
the Federal Energy Commission building in Washington,
and the AT&T Corporate
Center in Chicago.
His work has also been exhibited
in Germany, Japan
and Portugal.
He is represented in a number of permanent collections including the
Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum
of Modern Art, and the Whitney.
Haas is the recipient of numerous awards, among them a Guggenheim Fellowship
and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
His slide presentation will
include a selection of these works as well as numerous smaller scale paintings,
prints, and drawings. The event is sponsored by the Department of Visual Arts.
