Cam
Abbott's goal
just 1:56 into
the game was
all the Big
Red needed as
they held the
Dutchmen
scoreless
through 60 minutes and shutout
Union 6-0.

Matt Moulson made it a two-goal
game under two minutes later, his goal
assisted by Travis Bell. Shawn
Palahicky closed out the first period
scoring at 11:34 from Daniel
Pegoraro. The Dutchmen were
outshot 15-6 in the opening period.

Cornell added three additional
goals in the second. Ryan Vesce had
an even-strength goal and a power play
tally at 1:06 and 12:29 respectively.
Sam Paolini ended the scoring at
18:51. Union again managed six shots
on goal in the period with Cornell
doubling that.

Tim Roth was pulled at the end
of the second in favor of Kris Mayotte.
Roth made 21 saves on 27 shots
through two periods. Mayotte held
Cornell scoreless on eight shots in the
third. Dave LeNeveu made 17 saves
in the game for the shutout.

Union was 0-3 on the power play
while Cornell was 1-2.

After the
previous night's
6-0 shutout, the
Du t c h m e n
came out with a
vengeance Saturday
night and
beat Colgate by
a score of 4-1. Union took home one
goal in the second and three goals in
the third, including two by captain
Nathan Gillies, for the win. With the
win, Union is 7-11-4 overall and 3-5-
2 in the ECAC. The Dutchmen sit
in a tie with Dartmouth for sixth place
in conference standings with 10 points.

Jordan Webb scored Union's first
goal of the game, and his first since
December 29, at 3:00 of the second
while on the power play. Joel Beal took
a pass from Scott Seney and had the
initial shot from the blueline. Webb
redirected Beal's shot past Colgate's
David Cann for his 12th goal of the season.
Shots were 19 to nine in favor of
the Dutchmen through two periods.

Dutchman Glenn Sanders made it
a two-goal game with his even-strength
goal at 2:42 of the third. Max Seel took
advantage of a miscue by Colgate's defense
and fed the puck to freshman A.J.
Palkovich. Palkovich's shot was saved
by Cann, but Sanders netted the rebound
for his second goal of the season.

Colgate came within one at 8:57
of the third thanks to a power play goal
by P.J. Yedon, assisted by Joey Mormina
and Kyle Wilson. But Union captain
Nathan Gillies regained the two-goal
lead at 9:30 of the third with his ninth
goal of the season. Bryan Campbell
and Webb assisted on the breakaway
goal. Gillies ended the scoring with
just one second remaining in regulation,
adding his first empty-netter of
the season.

David Cann made 25 saves in the
game on 28 shots. Union goalie Kris
Mayotte made 15 saves on 16 shots for
his first win in six games. Mayotte is
now 6-5-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the
ECAC
