The internationally celebrated
duo, David Finckel, cellist, and Wu Han, pianist, will perform on Sunday, Feb.
2 at 3 p.m. in Memorial Chapel, part
of the College's chamber music series.
A snow storm on Jan. 3 forced the
duo to reschedule for Sunday.
Finckel is one of the world's most
acclaimed cellists and a member of the renowned Emerson String Quartet. Critics
have described Han as a “firebrand pianist” and her performances as “exhilarating”
and “electrifying.”
For three years, Finckel and Han,
a married couple, have served as co-artistic directors of the SummerFest La
Jolla, the acclaimed chamber music festival. Last summer, they inaugurated Music
@ Menlo, a chamber music festival in Silicon Valley.
The couple also founded ArtistLed,
the first musician-directed and Internet-based classical recording company (http://www.ArtistLed.com). To date,
ArtistLed releases include the complete works of Beethoven for cello and piano
as well as the sonatas of Rachmaninov, Shostakovich, and Prokofiev.
Finckel and Han also teach at the
Isaac Stern Chamber Music workshops at Carnegie Hall and the Jerusalem
Music Center.
