The Dutchmen
dominated the Big
Green on both
ends of the ice on
Friday, taking
game one of the
series by a score of
2-0. The win was
Union's first at
Dartmouth since February of 2001.

Leading off the scoring was freshman
Scott Seney, taking his second power play
goal of the season at 4:06 of the first.
Seney's goal was assisted by Kris
Goodjohn and Joel Beal. Goodjohn's assist
was his first point in two games. The
Dutchmen were afforded five power play
opportunities in the period, including an
extended 5×3, but were unable to capitalize
on the remaining man-advantages.
Freshman goalie Kris Mayotte made 10
saves in the period while Nick Boucher
made 14 for the Big Green.

The second period provided more action
from Union's special teams with Kris
Goodjohn netting the only goal, his second
shorthander of the season, at 11:26.
The goal was assisted by Beal and Chris
DiStefano. Mayotte held the Big Green
scoreless, making eight saves in the middle
period. Boucher made 10 saves for
Dartmouth.

Dartmouth tried to turn the tables in the
third, outshooting the Dutchmen 14 to
6, but Mayotte came up with numerous
big saves to earn his second career shutout.
Boucher was pulled at 18:25 but the
Big Green were unable to score with the
man-advantage. Final shots were 32-31
in favor of Union.

The Dutchmen
tried to
keep the momentum
from Friday's
win and carry
it into
Saturday's
game vs. Vermont. They netted four unanswered
goals to overcome a 2-0 deficit
vs. the Catamounts for just their second
win at Gutterson Fieldhouse (DI). The
win also marked the first road sweep vs.
Dartmouth and Vermont in Union's DI
tenure.

Vermont took a 1-0 lead late in the first
period on Jeff Miles' 14th goal of the season
while Vermont had a two-man advantage.
Scott Mifsud and Thomas Hajek assisted
on the goal, which came at 15:47.
Vermont outshot Union 7-4 in the opening
period.

The Catamounts made it 2-0 with another
power-play goal in the second period, this
one off the stick of Brady Leisenring at
9:59. Union cut into the Vermont lead
when Nathan Gillies scored on the power
play at 11:51. Jordan Webb and Kris
Goodjohn assisted on the goal, Gillies'
11th of the season.

The Dutchmen then tied it early in the
third when Brian Kerr scored from a tough
angle, beating Conschafter high to the
stick side at 4:15. Randy Dagenais and
Chris DiStefano assisted on the goal,
Kerr's sixth of the season. Webb capped
the comeback for Union, putting them
up 3-2 at 11:54 of the third period, with
his team-leading 13th goal of the season.
The gamewinner was taken on a miscue
by Vermont's defense and was assisted by
Nathan Gillies and Joel Beal.

UVM pulled their goalie at 18:21 of the
third, but freshman Scott Seney scored the
empty net goal for the 4-2 win. Seney's
second goal of the weekend was assisted
by Glenn Sanders and Kris Goodjohn.

Conschafter recorded 15 saves for Vermont,
while Mayotte stopped 23 for
Union. Mayotte's record improved to 8-
5-2 overall and 5-3-1 in conference.
