Although they came up with two goals late in the game, the Union Dutchmen
couldn't keep their winning streak alive and fell to the Brown University Bears by a
score of 3-2.
Brown scored the only goal in the first two periods of play, an even strength goal
from Chris Legg at 8:31 of the first. Jason Wilson and Paul Crosty assisted on the
goal. Shots were 17-10 in favor of the Dutchmen through the first two periods.
The Bears scored two goals in less than two minutes early in the third to put
Brown up by three. Keith Kirley's power play goal at 2:50 gave Brown the two-goal
cushion while Jason Wilson made it three at 4:02.
The Dutchmen answered at 12:14 to make it 3-1 with Brian Kerr's seventh goal
of the season. Randy Dagenais had the only assist on the goal. Pulling goalie Kris
Mayotte with 1:47 remaining in the game, Union was able to convert with the extra
attacker at 18:50. Jordan Webb's team-leading 16th goal of the season put the Dutchmen
within one, the goal assisted by Joel Beal and Scott Seney. Union again pulled
Mayotte, but were unable to score the equalizer in regulation.
At the conclusion of the game, fighting majors and game disqualifications were
handed to six players, three from each team. For Union: Nathan Gillies, Jason
Kean, and Scott Seney. For Brown: Vince Macri, Gerry Burke, and Keith Kirley.
All six players will sit out the next game (Brown vs. RPI on Saturday, Union vs. Yale
next Friday).
Kris Mayotte made 12 saves for the Dutchmen while Yann Danis made 23 for
Brown.
Shots were 25 to 15 in favor of Union. Union was 0-3 on the power play while
