The Dutchmen will face off against Colgate and Cornell this weekend, trying to hold on to
their fourth place standing (three-way tie) in the ECAC. First is Colgate, a team that Union
beat by a score of 4-1 back in January. Jordan Webb (1-2-3) and Nathan Gillies (2-0-2) led
the Dutchmen in the win. Colgate is coming off of a two-game losing streak at Harvard and
Brown.

Cornell handed Union a 6-0 shutout in January, and have earned nine points in the last six
games. Their last loss came to the Colgate Raiders at the end of January, a 2-1 OT loss. Last
weekend they tied with Brown and beat Harvard to increase their hold on the #1 spot in the
ECAC.

ECAC Scenarios – where each team can finish based on previously played ECAC games

Cornell 1-3

Harvard 1-4
Harvard has clinched a first-round bye. With 28 points Harvard can be tied by
Brown, Union, and Dartmouth. However Dartmouth must still play both Brown and Union.
The only way Harvard could possibly get a fifth seed is if two of these three teams catch them
(all 3 cannot). The only way two of them catch Harvard is if Dartmouth loses to Brown and
Union and Brown and Union both catch Harvard. Harvard easily wins this tiebreaker (4 pts
vs. Union, 2 vs. Brown). Adding Yale into the tie only helps Harvard, so there is no way for
Harvard to get a 5th seed. Harvard can get 4th if either Brown or Dartmouth catch them (it
is not possible for both to do so) as they can lose the record vs. top 4 tiebreaker to either team.

Yale 1-7
(comes out ahead of Vermont in any tiebreaker)

Brown 2-10

Dartmouth 2-10

Union 3-9
All three of these teams have 28 points. Union can only go as high as third because they lose
all tiebreakers with Harvard but Union can also only go as low as 9th because they win all
tiebreakers with St. Lawrence. Brown and Dartmouth could win or lose those tiebreakers and
can still go from 2nd to 10th.

Clarkson 3-10
(comes out ahead of RPI in any tiebreaker)

Vermont 4-11
(cannot win any tiebreaker with Yale)

Colgate 4-11

St. Lawrence 6-12
(cannot win any tiebreaker with Union, and at least one of Brown and
Dartmouth will get beyond 20 points since they must play each other)

Rensselaer 8-12
(cannot win any tiebreaker with Clarkson)

Princeton 10-12
