Sean Washington

Junior speedster Sean Washington (Woodbridge, VA/St. Stephen's) earned All-American honors by capturing fifth place in the 55 meter dash at the NCAA Track and Field Championship Meet. Washington, who went into the event ranked seventh in the country, logged a time of 6.47.

Senior Justin Sievert (Wyoming, MI/ New Paltz (NY) was a victim of a controversy that occurred in the shot put. Sievert, who went into the national meet ranked seventh in the country, saw his qualifying distance put aside when a protest on another competitor was upheld because the shot he threw was only 14 pounds (as compared to the 16-pound requirement). All the athletes had to take another qualifying throw with Sievert's distance of 15.90 meters (52' 2″) falling .004 meters short of qualifying. Sievert had earned honorable mention All-American honors at last year's event.
