Charles Batson, assistant professor of
French, will present a paper titled “Men in
Tights: Construction and Performance of Masculinity, Parisian Dance Theater
1909-1924” at the upcoming  Kentucky Foreign Language
Conference. An article related to this research, “Men in
Tights: The Ballets Russes, Nijinsky, and Inter-War Melancholia in Paris,”
has been accepted for publication in the journal Contemporary French Civilization. He also recently served as French
history and language consultant for a new musical theater piece, Freefall, which showcased in March at
the Broadway Theater Institute in New York.
