Senior catcher Bob Herbst won the Fred W. Bruhn Award. The award is presented to the member of the varsity baseball team who has made the greatest contribution in terms of inspirational leadership, sportsmanship, team and college loyalty, and service as a player.
A three-year letterwinner for the Dutchmen diamond squad, Herbst started 18 games this year. Last season he was a key member of the team that set a College record for wins in a season with their 20-14 campaign. The 2002 Dutchmen also their first ECAC Upstate New York championship since the 1986 season.
Tri-captain of the 2003 Dutchmen, Herbst is a native of East Greenbush, New York, and a graduate of Columbia High School. He is a chemistry major at Union.
