Junior forward, Imbrie Packard, who helped lead the basketball team to a second place finish in the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association's regular-season and postseason tournament, won the
Paul Rieschick Award. The award is presented to the basketball player who, in the opinion of the coaching staff regardless of playing time and individual statistics, exemplified the team concept through desire, attitude, and loyalty to the program.
Packard, a three-year letterwinner and the junior captain of the 2002-03 team, averaged 22 minutes, 5.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and led the Dutchmen with his 31 blocked shots. He has been elected captain for the 2003-04 campaign.
A graduate of Lower Merion High School in his hometown of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, Packard is majoring in mathematics at Union.
