The Union College women's hockey team, entering just their fifth season as the College's 25th varsity intercollegiate sport, will make history when the puck drops at the Frank L. Messa Rink at the Achilles Center. The 2003-04 season begins the Dutchwomen's first season as an NCAA Division I team playing in the Eastern College Athletic Confence.

Quinnipiac, which finished last season with a 5-25-2 Division I independent record, will provide the competition.

The Dutchwomen, meanwhile, are coming off there best season ever. Head coach Fred Quistgard, who has been at the helm of the program for the past five years, guided his team to a Division III record of 10-9-1 and an overall mark of 11-14-1. Last season marked the first time in the team's short varsity history that it had finished above the .500 mark within league play.

This is your chance to take part in a historical moment. Come and join us in celebrating the ceremonial “drop of the puck” just prior to the start of the game on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Messa Rink at Achilles Center.
