Robert Sharlet, Chauncey
Winters Research Professor of Political Science, served as chair and
commentator of a panel on post-communist courts and politics at the Law & Society
Association national conference in Pittsburgh
last June. He also was on a panel on Russian civil law development at an
international conference at Leiden University
in The Netherlands in September. He recently published “Russia
in the Middle: State-Building and the Rule of Law” in After Communism: Perspectives on Democracy, edited by D.R. Kelley (University
of Arkansas Press, 2003). His
recommendations to the Kyrgyz Republic
have been included in Analysis of the
Constitutional Amendments for the Kyrgyz Republic (American Bar
Association, August, 2003).
