Union College hockey fans who bring a little something extra to this weekend's games
against Princeton and Yale will get a $2 break on tickets … and more importantly, a
chance to brighten things up for local children.
The team is holding a Teddy Bear toss at Friday's Union hockey game
against Princeton, and a Toys-for-Tots drive at Saturday's game against Yale. Fans who
bring items to either game will get a $2 discount on tickets. Animals and toys will
also be for sale at the games, with proceeds to benefit local children's
programs.
Both games are at 7 p.m. in Frank Messa Rink at Achilles Center.
Coach Nate Leaman and the players will deliver the stuffed animals to
children at Albany Medical Center, St. Clare's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.
Donated toys will go to the Marines' Toys-for-Tots program. Plans are to continue the toy drive at the women's ice hockey games at home versus Maine on Dec. 12 and 13.
