Hilary
Tann,
professor of music, has released two songs on CD – “So Much Beauty” (www.elmgroveproductions.com). They
are sung by soprano Janeanne Houston accompanied by oboist Shannon
Spicciati. “Wings of the Grasses” was composed in
March 2003 for “A Garland for Presteigne,” a compilation of songs celebrating
the 21st anniversary of the Presteigne Festival in Wales. It was written as a companion piece to “A Girl's Song to
Her Mother.” The words of both songs were written for the composer by
Welsh poet, Menna Elfyn. The CD release concert took place at Pacific Lutheran
University on Feb. 22.
