Junior
defense woman, Jamie Laubisch, earned the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Medal of Merit as Union's “Outstanding Junior Female Athlete of the Year.”
The medal is presented to the junior
female athlete who has combined excellence on the fields of competition with
excellence in the classroom or outstanding service to the college.
A three-year starter and
three-year co-captain, Laubisch has scored eight goals and 23 points in 84
career games. A member of the American
Women's Hockey Coaches' Association Scholar All-American team,
Laubisch is a three-year winner of the Dutchwomen's Hana Yamashita Commitment
Award, which is presented to the player who best emulates the passion and
commitment that Hana Yamashita Class of '97, demonstrated in helping to move
women's ice hockey from club to varsity.
Laubisch
helped the Dutchwomen move from its five-year Division III roots to Division I
status in 2003-04.
