Schenectady, NY (Oct. 1, 2004) – Local
television and print media will get their first look at the 2004-05 Union
College men's and women's hockey teams during media day, which will be held on
Monday, October 11th at 4:00 p.m.
Players and coaches from both teams will be available for interviews and
photos as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Nate Leaman will begin his second
season behind the Dutchmen bench when the season opens in Colorado Springs, CO
for a two-game slate against Colorado College on Friday, October 15th
and Saturday, October 16th at 7:35 p.m. local time (9:35 p.m. ET).
In Leaman's
first season Union started the 2003-04 campaign on a
five-game unbeaten streak and won six of the first eight games for its best
start in Division I history. The team
finished with a league-best 6-6-2
non-conference record and earned home ice in the playoffs for the second

that success as the 2004-05 season gets underway.

face at the helm as Tim Gerrish begins his first season as head coach of the
Dutchwomen. Gerrish brings a wealth of
coaching experience with him as an assistant coach of the United States Women's
Hockey National Team. He will continue
those duties when Team USA participates
in the Four Nations Cup in Lake Placid, NY from Nov.
9th-14th.
Gerrish recently served as an assistant men's hockey coach
at Middlebury College, helping lead the Panthers to a
27-3 record and the 2004 NCAA Division III national title. Prior to
Middlebury, Gerrish served as head coach of the men's ice hockey team at North
Country (N.Y.) Community College for 24 years before retiring in 2002.
In addition to his coaching background, Gerrish is a
respected author and authority on coaching. He has been featured in
several hockey coaching videos and has presented world-wide at coaching
conferences and conventions.
The
Dutchwomen open their season on the road as well when they travel to Potsdam, NY to face ECAC Hockey League foe
Clarkson for a two-game series October 16th-17th.
