Dave Viniar, Class of 1976

The women and men's basketball teams invite the community
to a ceremony at their new home – the Viniar Athletic
Center – to honor donor David Viniar '76 on Saturday, Jan. 15, at 3:30 p.m., between the women's and men's games.

Viniar is a trustee and was a member of the 1974-75 basketball team that compiled a 20-4 record and an ECAC Upstate New York title.

After Union, he went on to graduate school at Harvard University, where he received his master's in business administration degree in 1980. He then joined the investment banking firm of Goldman Sachs & Co., where he became a partner in 1992 and chief financial officer in 1999.

An active alumnus, he has volunteered with the Career Development Center, served as an admissions representative, and participated as a member of Friends of Union Athletics. In 1997, he established the Leo and Evelyn Viniar Scholarship at Union in honor of his parents.

Both teams face Vassar, the women at 2 p.m., the men at 4
p.m. The first 500 through the door will receive a
“Dedication Collectible.”
