Senior forward Devon Bruce helped Union sweep its annual
trip to the North Country and kept the Dutchmen in the hunt for a spot in the
Liberty League's championship tournament was named the circuit's “Forward of
the Week.”  It was the fourth time in
the eight-weeks that the award has been presented that Bruce has been honored
and the second-straight week that he has been named.

Bruce scored 16 points in a 76-70 win at St. Lawrence on
Saturday and 15 in a 66-56 victory at Clarkson on Friday.  Overall he connected on 11 of his 19 field
goals and was nine of 11 from the free throw line. Bruce also contributed seven
rebounds, an assist, a block, and two steals.

The Altamont, New York native goes into this weekend's home
games on Friday and Saturday with Hobart and Hamilton, respectively, with 1,055
points (eighth all-time) and 611 rebounds (second-best since 1980).  He is ranked fifth in the Liberty League in
overall scoring with his 15.6 average and is seventh in the circuit with his
rebounding average of 7l.4.

Chris Murphy

Another key Dutchman reached a career milestone as junior
point guard Chris Murphy became the sixth player in Union's history to surpass
300 career assists.  The
Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, native dished out eight assists against Clarkson
and four more against St. Lawrence and now has 304.  That total ranks him fifth all-time and puts him in site of Bill
Carmody ('75), who finished with 326. 
Joe Clinton ('83) leads the list with 556. 

Murphy came into the week ranked fifth with his overall
assist average of 3.6.

The Liberty League's postseason event, which will once again
be a four-team affair, will be played on February 25 & 26 at the site of
the regular-season champion.  The
tournament winner earns the right to represent the circuit in the NCAA playoffs.
