Earlier breakfast talk to focus on
'Neuro Chip Technology'

Schenectady, N.Y. (Feb. 10, 2005) – Ted Berger,
the David Packer Professor of Engineering at the University of Southern California, will speak on “Educating the Mind to Build the Brain: The Power of
Integrating Liberal Arts with Science and Technology” at Union College's Founders Day convocation on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 11:45 a.m. in Memorial Chapel.

Berger, a
1972 graduate of Union, will receive an honorary doctor of science degree.

Berger will
describe his experience in combining principles of the humanities, science and
engineering to develop “bionic” replacement parts for the brain, novel sensor
systems for homeland security, and start-up companies for commercialization of
such technologies.

Breakfast
talk

Berger also
will give a breakfast talk, “The Pursuit of Neuro Chip Technology,” on Thursday,
Feb. 17, at 8 a.m. (breakfast starts at 7:30) at College Park Hall, the former
Ramada Inn. Hosted by the College and supported by the Center for Economic
Growth, the event is free and open to the public. Attendees are asked to
