Wikoff Gallery features environmental art

'Visions and Revisions: Recycled and Environmental Art'

The College's Environmental Club is showing an exhibit, “Visions and Revisions: Recycled and Environmental Art,” an exhibit of environmentally themed artistic works in the third-floor Wikoff Student Gallery in the Nott Memorial.


The show, in celebration of Earth Day, runs through May 29.


This exhibit features over 25 works inspired in form and content by the environment and/or environmental consciousness. Works include sculpture, painting, photography, collage, and other mixed media. The primary focus is works built from recycled materials.

Safety kiosk in use at Huron and Park

The new Campus Safety kiosk, at the corner of Park and Huron, is open for business.


A Campus Safety officer is stationed in the hut, known as “Post 3A,” during the night hours and will also do a foot patrol of the College Park neighborhood.


The garnet-roofed kiosk is at the intersection and the walkway to College Park Hall.

Philosophy sponsors talks

The Philosophy Department presents two lectures, one on animal rights, the other on Kant.


Reina Hayaki of Georgia State University will speak on “Do Americans Have a Moral Obligation to Be Vegetarians?” on Thursday, April 21, at 7 p.m. in Green House. The talk is part of “The Owl of Minerva: A Philosophical Café.”


Prof. Robert Howell of the University of Albany will give a philosophy colloquium on “Kantian Objects” on Thursday, April 28, at 4:30 p.m. in the Phi Beta Kappa Room at Schaffer Library.
