Faculty members are asked to help continue a cherished Union tradition – the Gideon Hawley Teacher Recognition Awards – by encouraging first year students and sophomores to nominate a secondary school teacher who has made a difference in students' lives. The award is named for the 1809 Union graduate who was a pioneer in education and teacher development. Award recipients, selected on the basis of their essays, will be honored at Founder's Day on Feb. 23.
