Janie Tremlett, Class of 1978, Alumnus

JANIE TREMLETT '78, V.P. Services/ IP Management, GlassHouse Technologies, Framingham, Mass. (B.S., mathematics; M.B.A., Syracuse University)

One of two female math majors in Union's fifth class of women, Tremlett has brought more than 50 successful commercial software initiatives to market, including CycleBridge Technologies, which was recently acquired by GlassHouse, an independent storage consulting and services provider. Tremlett uses innovative, practical technology to help health-care and biotech companies tackle complex data management challenges, such as regulatory compliance and business partnerships.

“I got involved in ENS when I started CycleBridge. I love being a part of the group because it's very reflective of Union and the current entrepreneurial spirit infusing the business world right now. Union attracts entrepreneurs. In fact, Union breeds entrepreneurship. This has always been recognized informally, but I like the fact that through ENS, Union is attracting alumni to help formalize that from an academic perspective.”

“The convergence of business and technology is critical. Union is trying to highlight that convergence. That's when real innovation happens – when people understand enough about business to develop new concepts, whether we're talking Wite-Out® or email.”
