Zack Lazovik, Wells babysitting service, winter 2006

It's not premature to talk about the newest brainchild of Wells House, Union's own community service theme house.

For a small charitable donation, Wells students will watch your kids at your home.

“The cost of childcare today is crazy,” says Zack Lazovik '07, who started the group “as a way to reach out to our hard-working Union employees and to Schenectady. We will not be charging for our services, but we give you the opportunity to make a small donation to one of our local charities.”

He is asking other campus groups to pitch in and help out. With a rush of early responses, it looks like he'll need it – a recent single email generated about two dozen replies from interested faculty and staff.

Lazovik says there are now 20 qualified student sitters, most from Wells, who will work in pairs for up to four hours at a time. Contact him (lazovikz@union.edu) or House Manager Sarah Shea (sheas@union.edu) for details. His advice: plan ahead.
