“New Orleans: Katrina Relief Winter 2005: Photographs by Daniel Khasidy” debuts at the Wikoff Student Gallery on Tuesday, April 25, and runs through May 14.
The exhibit documents the experiences of the 29 Union College students who traveled to New Orleans over winter break last year to rebuild schools damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
“We accomplished more than we first thought we could and have come away from the experience with a stronger desire to help,” said Khasidy, a senior.
“It was my assignment to photograph the experience; our own journey and that of New Orleans.”
Khasidy's exhibit is being shown in conjunction with a presentation to be featured during Steinmetz Symposium, “Issues in Representation: The Dilemma of Objectivity and Scope in Photojournalism.”
