Steinmetz and dance – it's a tradition at Union. And you'll see 67 students performing ballet, ballroom, tap, hip hop and more at the Steinmetz Dance Concert at the Nott Memorial on Friday, May 5 from 12:20 to 1:30 p.m.
Directed by Miryam Moutillet, the program will include extracts of the classic romantic ballet, Giselle, and the modern, Spanish-inspired Triptico. Students in the Dance Experience and Independent Studies will present their own choreographies, ranging from solos to group collaborations.
The Union College Dance Team and the Ballroom Club also will strut their swing and hip hop moves.
“The show reflects our students' diverse dance experience as well as the wide range of technique classes over by the Union College Theatre and Dance Department,” Moutillet said. “With 67 skilled performers in all kind of exciting dance forms, we hope to create an unprecedented event at the Nott, a spectacle that everyone can enjoy.”
Students also will dance in Instructor Marcus Rogers's frenzied “Footloose” tap piece and his high-energy jazz work, “Hung Up.”
