The Union College Chamber Concert Series presents the Parker String Quartet Friday, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. at Memorial Chapel, with Daniel Chong and Karen Kim on violin, Jessica Bodner on viola and Kee-Hyun Kim on cello. The group will perform Mozart's No. 14 in G, K. 387, György Ligeti's No.1 (1954) and Schumann's Op. 41, No. 1.

The Parker String Quartet has been hailed by The Washington Post as “a quartet that propels the music irresistibly but with extraordinary grace and flexibility,” and The New York Times raved that its debut performance at Carnegie Hall last year “set the group apart as something extraordinary.”

Since its founding in 2002, the group has quickly established itself as a dynamic young chamber ensemble on the national and international scene, winning the 2005 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, 2005 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition and other awards.

Concert tickets are free for the Union community, $20 for the general public and $10 for area students. For more information, call 388-6080 or 372-3651; or visit http://www.union.edu/ concertseries/.

This year, Metroland magazine's “Best of 2006” edition cited Memorial Chapel as the region's Best Classical Music Venue and Union's Concert Series as Best Classical Music Series.
