Elliot Imler and Christian Shultz, Class of 2008 students who have been conducting research with Professor of Physics Michael F. Vineyard, recently presented posters at the fall meeting of the Division of Nuclear Physics of the American Physical Society (APS) in Nashville, Tenn.
Imler presented “Fiducial Cuts for the CLAS G3 Data Set” and Shultz presented “Momentum Corrections for Charged Particles Photoproduced on Hydrogen and Helium Targets in CLAS.”
Their classmate, Richard Bonventre, who is on a term abroad in Japan, was included in the author list for each poster.
The abstracts were published in the Bulletin of the American Physical Society Vol. 51 No. 6 (2006).
Imler received lodging and travel support from the competitive Conference Experience for Undergraduates (CEU) program of the APS, and Shultz received lodging funds from CEU and travel support from Union's IEF program.
All three students performed research at Union during the summers of 2005 and 2006. In 2005, all were funded through Vineyard's Department of Energy (DOE) grant. In 2006, Bonventre was on a Union College Summer Scholars Fellowship; Imler worked under the DOE grant; and Shultz was funded through a Union Half-Summer Fellowship and the DOE grant.
