The U.S. premiere of Mexican dramatic artists group Conjuro Teatro debuts at Union’s Yulman Theater tonight with two performances of their play, “Los Trazos del Viento” (Traces of Wind) at 5 and 8 p.m.

The 8 p.m. performance will be followed by a synopsis and discussion by Victoria J. Martinez, associate professor of Spanish and Joann Yarrow, artistic director of Teatro Prometeo in Miami.

“Traces of Wind” is a dramatic pantomime exploring the relationship between U.S.-owned factories in Mexico and the murder of hundreds of Mexican women. The play will be accompanied by a recording in English with limited Spanish dialogue.

Free tickets are available to the general public and campus community by calling the Yulman Box Office at (518) 388-6545.

Golub House will be hosting an ethics talk Thursday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. entitled “Are We Responsible for Murder?” The campus community is invited to attend and enjoy Mexican food provided by El Mariachi.

The play was sponsored by the President’s Speakers Fund, Ethics across the Curriculum, LACS, UNITAS, the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the departments of Modern Languages and Literatures, Women’s Studies, History, Political Science and English.
