Lambda Pi CHi sorority, step show 2007

More than $1,000 will be donated to the Latimer Education After School Program of Schenectady’s Carver Community Center, thanks to the successful Third Annual Step/Stroll Show, “Step Towards Education,” held in Memorial Chapel recently.

The event was the kickoff for the Admissions Office’s Multicultural Weekend. Co-sponsors were Las Hermanas of Tau Chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority and the Noble Brothers of Zeta Gamma Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity.

More than 130 people turned out for performances by five Greek organizations from Union and other colleges and universities.

The Latimer program is aimed at helping young students in first through eighth grades advance in reading and mathematics.

“We’re extremely proud of this accomplishment,” said Carla Reeves, Lambda Pi Chi’s vice president. “We appreciate all of the support we received, and we plan to continue serving and contributing to the community by sponsoring events and fundraisers throughout the year.”
