While everyone knows there are plenty of things happening at Union, not everyone knows how to access information about events and activities.

Over the past few months, the Web Office has been working with Communications, Central Scheduling, Information Technology Services and Student Activities to create a comprehensive online calendar for the campus community.

“Our collective goal is to display all College-related events in a single location on the Web by integrating the Web site with the College’s current scheduling and room reservation system (Resource-25),” said Jim Feck, Web director.

The new system will take time to build and test. In the interim, the Web office has created a “public” calendar, which is featured on the College’s home page (http://www.union.edu under "Campus Calendars") and news page (http://www.union.edu/News/ under "Events").

The calendar is managed by the Office of Communications and generally includes events that are of interest both on- and off-campus. It is located at: http://www.union.edu/News/calendar/

“We hope this temporary solution will give the Campus Community a better, more inclusive view of the myriad events taking place at Union at any given time,” Feck said.

In addition, the calendar’s recently added event submission form will allow members of the Campus Community to forward notices of upcoming events to the Office of Communications for review.

Not all submitted events will be appropriate for inclusion, and submitting an event does not reserve space or resources for it, Feck noted. That function is still handled through the Central Scheduling Office and the Resource-25 system (http://www.union.edu/Events/).

To access the new event request form, click "Submit Event Request" on the calendar's “Month” view.

Two other "specialty" calendars also currently exist. They are Student Activities (http://www.union.edu/fun/event_calendar/)  and the Minervas (http://www.union.edu/minervacalendar/). Events listed on these calendars are managed by their respective departments.
