The MACHINING focus area introduces students to metal working focused mainly around subtractive manufacturing processes, including manual machining and CNC milling. Students learn how to safely operate lathes, mills, and precision measuring equipment while developing an understanding of material properties, tolerances, and part design. Participants work with CAD/CAM software and support peers in complex fabrication tasks.
You are able to advance through tiered training from an Assistant to a Specialist and then a Lab Coordinator. The associated “Roles, Responsibilities and Opportunities” are below.
