MACHINE SHOP WATERJET LAB

About the Waterjet Lab

The Waterjet Lab is in the Machine Shop/Make Lab building and is managed by Machine Shop staff. Students and faculty can submit cuts or inquiries through this page or feel free to stop by the Machine Shop during operating hours to learn more. The new OMAX Maxiem 1530 waterjet cutter is an advanced piece of equipment! It offers a large cutting area at 10′-0″ x 5′-2″. It is able to cut and machine a massive range of materials, including metals, composites, plastics, foams, glass and stone. Because of its increased pressure and power our machine is able to cut through thicker and tougher materials. The maximum cut thickness depends on the material and the type of cut but the maximum depth of material is 6” and the machine can easily cut through 1” steel and 3” stone! Perhaps most importantly is that the machine is equipped with a completely software-controlled multi-axis cutting head that greatly expands the versatility and capability of the machine. With a cutting range from 0° to 60°, the A-Jet can easily cut beveled edges, angled sides, countersinks as well as complex 3D shapes!

If you have any questions about the waterjet cutting process or technology, please submit an inquiry below. If you are ready to submit a waterjet cut file, please click on the link below to access our online submission form. You will be notified once we receive your file.
