This area represents the College’s largest holdings which includes substantial depth in 18th-19th century fine art prints, 20th century fine art prints from the 1960-1970s, to very contemporary photographs, fine art prints and drawings.

Martin S. Ackerman Foundation Collection:

Includes works by internationally known artists Oscar Kokoschka, Lee Krasner, Larry Rivers, Seymour Lipton, Conrad Marca-Relli, R.B. Kitaj, Jesus Rafael Soto, and more. Read more…

Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Project Collection:

Six screen-prints and 158 photographs gifted to the College by the Andy Warhol Foundation in New York, NY. 183 academic institutions were selected to foster Warhol’s work in an effort to promote his legacy and make to make his artwork available for teaching and scholarship. Read more…

Arnold Bittleman Drawing Collection:

Over 15 drawings and prints created by Arnold Bittleman, member of the Union Faculty from 1966-1984 and founder of the Union College Studio Arts program. During his time at Union College, Bittleman taught drawing, painting, design, color theory, photography, and printmaking.  Read more…

Burns Collection:

Over thirty pieces from Gemini G.E.L., in CA, were donated by Arnold I Burns, Class of 1950, former trustee and alumni, and Felice Burns, in honor of his parents. Read more …

Contemporary Works Collection:

We are actively pursuing collecting opportunities to deepen our current holdings by innovators in the visual arts today, specifically targeting NY State artists and focusing on diversifying the collection with such recent purchases as prints by Paul Thek and Nicole Eisenman. Read more…

Pre-Modern Era Prints

The earliest fine art print held by the Permanent Collection is a block print from the Nuremberg Chronicles by Wolgemut, circa 15th century, which displays an early example of the then new technology – printmaking. Other standouts in our pre-modern collection include notable works by Corot, Daumier, Goya, Manet, Millet, Piranesi, and Tiepolo. Read more…
