Julian Zapata-Hall

Hello. My name is Julian and I am a Math major. I enjoy both art and history. Have always enjoyed artistic displays like paintings, sculptures or performances. On the other hand, history has always been one of my favorite school subjects. With this class I intend to learn more about Chinese Art and Communist China.

In my free time I enjoy playing soccer, basketball or chess. I also enjoy listening to rock, jazz, hip-hop, salsa, reggaeton and reggae.

Sophia Rothberg

Hi, my name is Sophia Rothberg. I am a Visual Arts Major. After taking Chinese and China in The News, I wanted to learn more about Chinese Art which is why I am taking this class. I have always loved art and have drawn and painted ever since I was little. I really fell in love with art during high school. Besides art, I love to spend time with my pets and play video games. Recently, I have been playing Overcooked (which is the picture I included).

Prof. Sheri Lullo

Hello! I knew since high school that I wanted to study Asian art, and though I settled on Chinese archaeology for my research focus, I prepared in grad school to teach this course because I find the time period and material so interesting–and I’m excited to discuss it with you! The photo above shows me, when I was your age, doing a cartwheel on Beijing’s Forbidden City palace grounds. I had the privilege of traveling to China then for my BA thesis research (and I returned many times during grad school). Today, when I’m not working on my classes, I like to do my own research or play guitar (though I’m terrible at it), and I especially like being outside, running or taking walks, or reading in my garden.
