In The People’s Forests, published in 1933, original 46er Robert Marshall wrote “As society becomes more and more mechanized, it will be more and more difficult to stand the nervous strain, the high pressure, and the drabness of their lives. To escape these abominations, constantly growing numbers will seek the primitive for the fines features of life.” Marshall also predicted the strain the high numbers of hikers would place on the mountains he so loved. Join us as we discuss the changes these avid hikers have witnessed in the Adirondack’s 46 High Peaks and the people who have made it their goal to summit them all.
