Brad Edmondson’s new book is a lively account of how activists, politicians, and scientists worked together 50 years ago to make something radical and new. They drafted two land use plans that controlled all development in New York’s six-million-acre Adirondack Park, then turned them into a law that is still controversial today. Edmondson worked over two decades, conducting 60 oral history interviews and combing multiple archives, allowing the people who worked for and against the early Adirondack Park Agency to tell the story in their own words.
