When Responsive Layout is enabled, Cycle is the only transition available . (Responsive Layout adjusts your site automatically so it can be viewed on mobile devices.)

To disable the Responsive Layout:

Dashboards | Appearance | Theme Options | General Settings | General tab

Scroll to the bottom and click on the button to disable the Responsive Layout.

Save your changes. 

 

 

To change the Slider image transition:

Dashboards | Appearance | Theme Options | General Settings | Featured Slider tab

                                

 

 

Under Slider Type, click on the arrows to drop down the list of transitions and click on your choice.

Scroll to the bottom and <Save>. 

 

View your Homepage to see how it looks. The nivo and roundabout Slider Types work well if you have images that are different sizes.
